There are numerous night markets in Bangkok Thailand but many of them are created mainly for tourists and sell the usual merchandise that you can easily along the streets or the typical shopping malls. I visited Talad Rot Fai Night Market a few years ago near Chatuchak Market and fell in love with its vintage concept. Talad Rot Fai Night Market has since shifted from its previous location to Srinakarin Road and got bigger and better. Not near any BTS or MRT Station, you can take a cab and drop off when you see this signature landmark. The roads leading to the main market area is already flanked with stalls selling vintage merchandise. If you think the market is huge from the main road, you will be surprised that this is only the tip of the iceberg.
So we recommend that you grab one of these colourful and delicious fruit shaped jelly Tau Sar Piah to pump up your energy level! Housed in a jelly exterior, they contain Mung Bean Paste (i think) filling that we usually find inside our Tau Sar Piah.
You will come across numerous rows of stalls as you walk further into the market. You can have a quick look at their offerings but the true gem of Talad Rot Fai Night Market is further in.
Venture in deeper till you come across a street with vintage vehicles, graffiti drawings and speciality shophouses.
This part of Talad Rot Fai Night Market is not just paradise for vintage hunters
and serious collectors.
Avid photographers will adore its vintage industrial set up
and culture vultures can soak up the unique artefacts that the locals hold dear to their hearts.
An odd retail addition to the themed mix but they seem to be doing pretty well.
If you are tired, there are cozy cafes with Live bands or
adorable puppies are well scattered across Talad Roi Fai Night Market to rest your feet.
You can also choose to people watch at one these pubs with Live Bands for an ice cold beer.
We ended our evening with a yummilicious supper at Talad Rot Fai Night Market Food section.
The seafood selection here is great. Fresh and piping hot grilled delicacies on demand!
The fish was a slight let down. Go get the fish along the side walk to Platinum Mall. The fish is freshly grilled and a lot more juicy. Don’t even get me started on the cold vermicelli that comes with it….
Overall, we enjoyed our visit to the new Talad Rot Fai Night Market. It is definitely bigger, better and offers so much more than the old Vintage Train Night Market near Chatuchak. Make this your must-visit night market for your next visit to Bangkok. Please see the full information below for your trip planning:
