Swissbake Singapore Introduces Limited-edition Flavours For National Day

National Day represents a significant mark on our calendars as a celebration of all things Singaporean since our colourful rise to independence in 1965. Though tiny, our multicultural society makes its culture rich and diverse; it’s little wonder that our culinary heritage is just as rich and eating has been declared the nation’s favourite pastime. In celebration of our National Day, Swissbake Singapore presents two limited edition bread flavours, Gula Melaka Toast ($5.90; 220g per loaf) and Country Milk Toast ($4.90; 220g per loaf), available only from 26 July 2021 to 30 September 2021 at selected islandwide supermarket.

Ever since Swissbake’s introduction to Singapore markets in 2003, the halal-certified bakery has been proudly offering European breads, cakes, and pastries only with the finest ingredients. As a tribute to the lion city on its day of independence, the Swissbake bakery team has not only delivered two limited edition bread flavours but also recipes using the bread, with a local twist – so that everyone can have a scrumptious National Day.

Swissbake Singapore – Gula Melaka Toast

The Gula Melaka Toast is infused with the popular eponymous ingredient essential to old-school local kueh makers. Typically used in traditional desserts, gula melaka or palm sugar is prized for their deep rich flavour which adds depth to any confection.

Swissbake’s limited edition loaf, featuring premium gula melaka from Indonesia, is beautifully infused with a complex sweetness and aroma that perfumes the air as soon as its packaging is opened. Fluffy with a tender chew, the bread tastes and feels on par with cake and is enjoyable even on its own.

The bread would also be wonderful as part of a morning start: partner it with kaya jam and a sprinkle of sea salt; peanut butter; a cup of locally brewed coffee; or even some ice cream for an authentic local experience!

Swissbake Singapore – Country Milk Toast

The Country Milk Toast is an elevated take on the classic milk bread; its familiar flavour will provide a sense of nostalgia for those who grew up eating fluffy white bread from traditional bakeries. Created with 100% natural milk, it offers diners a delicious paradox: a fluffy yet toothsome texture which still retains a delicate lightness that melts in your mouth.

The limited-edition loaf has good structure and a mildly sweet flavour that becomes more prominent when consumed on its own. Providing a neutral taste with stronger-flavoured accompaniments, this bread is the ideal stage for a glorious sandwich. Rich, umami components such as scrambled eggs and cold cuts would make great pairings.
