Chateau Beachside Resort – Heart of Surfers Paradise!

A super cheap return flight ticket on Scoot Flight TZ 6 for SDG$338 lured me to Gold Coast Australia for a 7 days holiday. The cabin service from Scoot was pretty alright but they really need to improve upon their check in service. The staff were inexperience and not too professional in the way they handle the check in.

Despite me popping a sleeping pill before my flight, I just can’t get myself to sleep on an overnight flight. I was pretty much a zombie when I reach Gold Coast Airport at 8am in the morning. Thankfully the journey from the airport to my hotel Chateau Beachside Resort was a pretty smooth ride.

For the price range that I am paying, Chateau Beachside Resort has indisputably one of the best location on Surfers Paradise. Smacked right along Gold Coast most popular beach, the sands are less than 100 metres away!

Reaching the hotel 4 hours before official check in time saw me paying additional rental to secure my room (thankfully it was ready) and get some shut eye fast!

They do not have the trendiest bed covers but the room was really spacious and clean.

There’s even a mini kitchen and dining area!

Remember to always request for a high floor to enjoy unblocked view of the Pacific Ocean.

Managed to capture the ocean view from my room with my Sony HDR-GW77VE

The resort also have a pretty decent indoor pool which was a little redundant with the gorgeous beach by its backyard.

If you are ever bored at night, there’s a recreation room with arcade games, pool table & table tennis table to keep you entertained.

I only managed to sneak 60 minutes of shut eye before heading over to Harbour Town Outlet Shopping Centre for an afternoon shopping spree.

The place is huge & you can easily spend an entire day shopping within its premise!

As of all Outlet Shopping Malls, this is the place where even the locals come for a bargain. But for us Singaporeans, their discounted price is around 10% – 15% steeper than our usual price given the exchange rate. So make sure you do your maths before making the purchase!

Now and then, you will chance upon booths providing more specialised services.

Huge supermarket chain stores were also found here. Great place to stock up fruits or buy Aussie Milo – they do taste better than our local version. It will be tough to find similar sized supermarkets in Surfers Paradise.

In case you miss home already….

If you are there with kids, you can sent them off on these cute train rides while you tackle the shops.

By the time I got back from the shopping, I was too exhausted to venture too far out for dinner.

Decided to settle at the Ben’s Fish & Chips. It’s kind of their budget fast food.

When in Australia, you gotta give their local Barramundi a go! They come in pretty huge portions too.

The beer battered fish was fresh and tasted awesome! My only peeve was that Tartar Sauce was sold separately. No way I am going to pay AUD$2 bucks for that.

Not sure why I ordered coffee for dinner, just suddenly craving for it.

With that, I zonked out for the evening. Have to catch up my sleep, the rest of Gold Coast can wait.
