Marina Bay Sands Theatre Reopens With Singaporean Music Sensations

Live music will soon fill the halls of the iconic Sands Theatre at Marina Bay Sands once again, as the venue is set to officially re-open on 18 December 2020 with its first performance since its closure due to the COVID-19 situation. The two-day event on 18 and 19 December, which will allow up to 500 attendees each day, is also the largest live music event to be staged in the Republic since Singapore’s Circuit Breaker was imposed in April.

Marina Bay Sands Theatre Reopens – Back To Live

The integrated resort is partnering with AEG and Collective Minds for Back to Live, a two-night concert headlined by Singaporean music sensations Benjamin Kheng, Sezairi Sezali, and Charlie Lim with special guest appearances by local artists Narelle, KEYANA, Aisyah Aziz, THELIONCITYBOY and Linying.

‘Back To Live’ is part of the Ministry of Health’s pilot for pre-event testing which is intended to enable large-scale events to take place in a safe manner by reducing the risk of a COVID-positive case being present at an event. All ticket holders will need a valid negative Antigen Rapid Test (ART) for entry and will be required to comply with all the safe management measures in place at the concert. Testing will be provided free of charge and additional information will be available at www.collectiveminds.asia.

“With the gradual resumption of live performances, we are excited to see ‘Back To Live’ participate in the pilot to conduct pre-event testing at live performances. The health and safety of visitors remain a priority, and the outcome of such pilots will be critical to our ongoing efforts to allow events of a larger scale to resume in a safe and sustainable manner,” said Ms Jean Ng, Executive Director Attractions, Entertainment & Tourism Concept Development for Singapore Tourism Board.

Marina Bay Sands Theatre Reopens – Ensuring Safety

As Sands Theatre gears up to hold live events, it has introduced a slew of hygiene and safety measures to ensure a safe and clean environment for attendees, staff, and performers. Already an SG Clean-certified venue, it has stepped up the frequency of cleaning and disinfection of all common areas and high-touch surfaces, and all seats in the theatre are sprayed with disinfectant on a regular basis. The overall density of persons in enclosed areas will also be limited and infection control measures will be implemented before and after each event. Groups within each zone will be seated one metre apart and zones will be separated with a three-metre distance.

Mr Paul Town, Senior Vice President of Resort Operations at Marina Bay Sands, said: “We are pleased to be working with AEG and Collective Minds, as well as the Singapore Government, for this pilot event to enable the resumption of activities in Sands Theatre. This event is a great step towards the gradual return of live entertainment in Singapore, and we are privileged to have been the only venue chosen for an event of this nature. As we re-open our entertainment venues in a responsible manner, we hope to instill confidence to welcome back concert goers as they experience the best performances in this renewed environment.”

For Back to Live, concert attendees will be split up into zones of up to 50 persons at any time whilst ensuring that attendees of different zones do not intermingle. These zones will be admitted into the theatre at staggered timings. Marina Bay Sands will also be deploying trained Safe Distancing Ambassadors to disperse crowds and ensure safe distancing measures are adhered to. In addition, all attendees will need to do SafeEntry check-in via the TraceTogether app or Token.
