Frozen Musical Singapore Review – The Gala Night Experience

We were really thrilled to have the chance to catch Frozen Musical Singapore on the Gala Night itself. It has been more than two years since we had the chance to watch a live musical performance again after the pandemic and we really cherished the opportunity. The magic starts from the very moment you enter the theatre. You can immediately tell that a lot of effort has been put into dolling up the entire space for an immersive experience.

The young Elsa and Anna were really adorable and energetic. There were a few off-keys from them but we will gladly give them an A* for delivering the actions, lines and breaking into songs every now and then. Olaf was an absolute joy to behold throughout the performance. The puppetry was done perfectly and Matt’s voice was exactly like the Olaf we know from the movies.

For the true-blue Frozen fans, you may get a little surprised by new characters and some deviation from the story that you are familiar with. Hang on tight and keep an opening mind, people.

Other than ‘Let It Go’ which everyone is pinning for throughout the performance, you will also be treated to new songs that are exclusive to the musical. We particularly love ‘Dangerous To Dream’ and ‘Love Is An Open Door’. You can check out the Frozen Musical Official Soundtrack on Apple Music after the show and share with us your thoughts.

I almost teared at the climax of the musical – Elsa belting out ‘Let’s It Go’ against the gorgeous change of backdrop and the surprising gown switch to make her the ultimate ice queen. It was perfect. The only downside of the musical for us was that its second part was unable to bring us back to the same heightened state of ‘Let It Go’. It was just too tough to push the musical up a notch after that segment. Overall, we really enjoyed the performance and recommend it as a must-watch musical for 2023 in Singapore!
