Folks in Japan are now celebrating their birthday with a giant slab of raw meat in the shape of a cake. Instead of your usual sugar icing and flour, birthday celebrations have turned into a carnivorous trend in Japan! We dare you to celebrate your next birthday with a meat cake like the Japanese too!
Why would the birthday boy or girl want a selection of raw meat in the shape of a cake? Well, the answer is for practicality.
It is quite common for Japanese to celebrate their birthday at a yakiniku (grilled meat) restaurant. So instead of ordering something sweet after everyone had their fill of grilled meat, it is easier on both the belt and wallet.
Now it doesn’t sound that bad anymore right.
After a while, people began to re-create the same concept during home grill meat birthday celebrations.
And make all their dishes into cakes….. hurray for the birthday boy or girl!
It doesn’t look exactly appetising when folks bring out cake which is already cooked. Apparently, they have yet to establish a hard rule on how to present a meat cake just yet.
