AccorHotels Global Chief Development Officer Gaurav Bhushan, AccorHotels Asia Pacific Chief Talent and Culture Officer Christine Rumble and AccorHotels Chief Operating Officer for Malaysia, Indonesia And Singapore Garth Simmons also shared their hospitality experiences and tips for a career in this field during this event.

“I am thankful to Swissotel Merchant Court for organising this programme and would like to wish AccorHotels a happy 50th anniversary,” said Norsuziana Bte Samsaimon, a student at Republic Polytechnic studying for the Diploma in Hotel & Hospitality Management. “Participating in this programme is really meaningful for me as I am able to apply what I have learned in school into the real world.”

4. AccorHotels Singapore 50th Anniversary – Swissôtel The Stamford and Fairmont Singapore

Swissôtel The Stamford and Fairmont Singapore treated 50 volunteers from the Orbis Flying Eye Hospital and Community Chest to a breakfast on the Helipad of Swissôtel The Stamford. Among the guests was 77-year-old Sister Bernadette, a long-time volunteer with Community Chest since 1983 when Community Chest was first established. Over the years, Sister Bernadette has supported Community Chest in various ways including recruiting over 60 volunteers from all walks of life such as former teachers and retired nurses.

Swissôtel The Stamford and Fairmont Singapore General Manager Marcus Hanna said, “One of the hallmarks of the AccorHotels brand is a passion for the community. This principle is something that is deeply embedded in the AccorHotel’s DNA, and is also a common thread that resonates throughout the different brands within the AccorHotels family. As such, it was only fitting that the theme “Welcome Heroes” was chosen to commemorate this golden jubilee; that as we celebrate this significant milestone, we also celebrate the heroes of our community who have so generously given of themselves, making sacrifices for the less privileged among us.”

5. Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa

In celebrating AccorHotels’ 50th anniversary, ambassadors from Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa embarked on a mission to quench the thirst and put a smile on the faces of the gardeners and landscapers who toil tirelessly each day under the scorching sun to provide hotel guests and island-goers with beautifully manicured gardens and landscapes across the island.

With 50 sets of slushies, pastries and fruits in hand, ambassadors went around the island surprising our unsung heroes with the sweet treats.
