From LAX to SIN: 5 Must See Attractions in Singapore

There’s a lot to love about Los Angeles: the weather is stunning, it’s ethnically diverse, and the food is amazing … but sometimes you need a break from its electric grip—and a long-haul trip to Asia is the perfect release. Singapore, in particular, is an excellent choice if you’re looking to swap one bustling metropolis for another. Its western style is less of a culture shock for first-time travellers, although there’s still oodles of local culture to be found.

This island city-state off southern Malaysia is a global financial centre and boasts a tropical climate and multicultural population, which is surely music to the ears of a Los Angeles native seeking a new adventure.

But before you grab your passport, we’d like to share a very quick travel tip: pre-book your airport parking. It may seem inconsequential, but around this time of year, parking at LAX can be a nightmare, so use LAX Airport parking comparison service Looking4.com to find the best deal.

Housekeeping over … let’s get to the other good stuff.

Below, we’ve highlighted three of our must-see attractions in Singapore, so check them out when you visit and let us know what you think.

1. Wander among the Trees

It seems odd for trees to be first on a list of must-see attractions, but head to the 250-acre Gardens by the Bay and you’ll discover why. These 18 man-made trees are solar-powered and stand between 25 and 50 meters tall. Stick around for the evening light show, which brings a new dimension to nature.

2. Check out Sentosa

Off the southern coast of Singapore is where you’ll find Sentosa—an island resort jam-packed with beautiful beaches, great food and plenty of attractive bars. Be sure to visit Tiger Sky Tower where you can breathe in views that’ll leave you gasping for more.

3. Visit Universal Studios

Ok, ok, we know LA has its own Universal Studios, but this one is in SINGAPORE! Best of all, it’s also on Sentosa Island and features 28 rides, shows, and attractions in seven themed zones, including Hollywood (hey, you’ll feel at home!), Ancient Egypt and Madagascar.

4. Go on a Night Safari

Fancy visiting the world’s first nocturnal zoo? You can in Singapore! The Night Safari is one of the most popular attractions in Singapore and lets you see animals including the sunda pangolin (the world’s most trafficked animal) and the stunning clouded leopard.

5. Head to the National Gallery

Looking for a bit of culture during your trip? Head to the National Gallery, which is located in the Downtown Core of Singapore. This amazing building contains the world’s largest collection of Singapore and Southeast Asian art, consisting of over 8,000 pieces.
