4 Peculiar Insurance Policies Famous Singers Have Signed Up For

Insurance policies are like everyday groceries for the rich and famous, and who could blame them? When your entire wellbeing and livelihood depend on a particular object or body part, you want to protect that thing with all you have. Otherwise, you may have to say goodbye to your entire career and potential earnings.

Throughout the years, musicians gave insurance companies an interesting way to expand their business: insuring body parts. While it may sound creepy, these people depend on their fingers, voice, or other body parts in order to continue their career, so why wouldn’t they want safety?

Below, we are taking a look at some of the most curious parts of their body that the following artist has insured.

Keith Richards

Keith Richards is known all over the globe for being the co-founder, guitarist, and co-songwriter of The Rolling Stones – a band that needs no further introduction. He is dubbed the ultimate riff wizard, so it was only natural the man would want to secure this title somehow.

In a past interview, Richards stated his hands are his main business, and we are not the ones to debate this claim. This is why the guitarist went on to secure his fingers for no less than $1.6 million. This decision was made to secure his financial future, and given the fact that cheap small business insurance won’t cost as much as Keith Richards’ fingers, you have no excuse to not do the same for your business as well.

David Lee Roth

You may know David Lee Roth as Diamond Dave, the lead singer of Van Halen throughout the 1974-1985 period.

Back in 2006, Roth reconciled with the band and is back to being their lead singer, so even more reasons to secure a body part that brings your money, right? Only, Roth did not secure his special voice – with a particular vocal range of five octaves and three notes – but his…swimmers (yes, that means exactly what you think it means). He did so throughout the ‘80s, when the band was at the peak of their fame, to cover any potentially expensive paternity lawsuit in case he accidentally impregnated someone.

Gene Simmons

Gene Simmons is the bassist of KISS, the infamous rock band known for its distinctive look. Simmons became famous for his unique playing style, melodic bass lines, and memorable riffs, so you would think the man wanted to secure his hands or at least fingers.

Simmons was, however, also famous for something else: his tongue. During concerts and performances, Simmons was often seen wagging his tongue, which became a staple move for him. That’s why, in the ‘70s, he decided to insure the thing that made him unique and took out a $1 million policy for his tongue.

Jeff Beck

Jeff Beck is one of the most infamous rock guitarists out there. He was part of the same bad as Eric Clapton and Jimmy Paige back when he was young and has become a prominent figure on stage ever since.

In 2009, Beck was in his kitchen cutting some carrots when he accidentally cut the tip of his left index finger. Fortunately for him, the doctors were able to fix the problem entirely, but this served as a warning sign for Beck, who decided to protect his career by insuring his fingers.
