It’s just us, or you have got your ‘food rules’ to eat while you hit the road. Good food and a good mood always pay off. At the same time, it energizes you after sitting hours at the same position in the car.

Dry fruits

Things like nuts, cereal, coconut, trail mix, cashews, hazelnuts, apricots, resins, and prunes include high protein, fats, and fibres making a perfect food to grab while you are driving to a long distance. These foods not only keep you awake but also decrease the risk of a panic attack. You would require energy even while you sit for hours in the seat; grabbing pieces of nuts from the pack could be your next fun part. MREs/ backpacking meals

What could be the best heavy meals to eat while you are driving? Grab a couple of MREs packets from the store, add water, eat them cold, or get fancy self-heating kinds. The backpacking meals are not new to outsiders like truck drivers, marines, and even car drivers. MREs’ concept was developed back in the 1980s for militaries to keep them contained longer. Boiled eggs can be prepared within a few minutes, making it a convenient food to have while driving. Eggs are rich in protein which should boost your energy for a couple of hours of eating.

Protein bars

Protein bars are great unless you mess up buying one that has high sugar and additives. Do not buy these bars for the taste but for your health. Dark chocolates and almonds

If you love sweet and healthy bite-food, dark chocolate and almonds are the way to go. Having candies and bars might include high sugar and additives, making you feel unwell before reaching the destination. Baked chickpeas

Baked chickpeas can be made at home with the ingredients you would like. Chickpeas are rich in fiber and keep you stuffed for a whole day. Grab a bag full of chickpeas from the supermarket and make it ready for the next day’s trip.

Protein balls

By now, you might already know, protein is the essential nutrient to have while you drive. We have yet another list that contains protein but in a heavy amount. You can get creative to add non-baked protein balls to your list of food items to eat while driving.

You can make these balls by yourself at home. The recipe includes some dark chocolates, cashew and buts, protein bars, and unsweetened yogurt; grind and mix them. After that, roll them into balls and set them to cool overnight.

You are in your car all day to attend a family function, business meeting, or a trip; it’s hard to choose if you eat lighter or heavy foods.
