DIY Projects That Will Increase The Value Of Your Home

Whether you’re considering selling your home at some point in the future, or you just want to spruce it up a bit, there are many DIY projects that can be done in just a few hours and won’t break your bank either. Here are a few projects that you can do to liven up your home and increase its value at the same time.

Upgrade the Kitchen Cabinets

Give your kitchen a brand new look by upgrading the cabinets. Take the basic approach by simply cleaning and washing them because let’s face it, it’s probably been a while since the last time they had a good cleaning. You could also take it a step further by staining them or giving them a new paint job. Remember to remove the hardware and give those a good shine as well, or throw them out and improve the look by buying a new set.

Update the Bathroom Fixtures

Swap out that old bathroom faucet or shower head for something new and exciting. If you want to save a few bucks, then look at water saving shower heads. These help reduce the amount of water used and you won’t even realize the difference while you’re taking a shower. However, you’ll notice when your water bill is lower next month. Another money-saving tip is to switch out the light fixtures for LED bulbs which will not only make the room brighter, but save you money because they use less energy.

Paint the Walls

If you really want to step into a brand new world, then consider giving the walls a more modern look. This might take longer than a weekend, or you’ll have to recruit some help, but it’s a surefire way to freshen up your home. If you’re thinking about selling your home in the future, then you might want to choose a more neutral color that will appeal to more potential buyers. This alone could have you excited to ask the question, what is my home worth, and happy when you hear the answer!

Install a New Front Door

One of the first things people notice when approaching your home is the front door. They might be distracted while pulling into the driveway or walking up the walkway, but once they are standing at your doorstep, they are certainly paying attention. Install a new door and make a great first impression when your guests come to visit. At the very least, give the door a fresh paint job to make the entrance look more inviting.

Landscaping

Trim the shrubs, pull the weeds, and clear the yard of any debris like fallen branches. You could also plant some flowers or add other forms of greenery around your home to make it look more appealing.

Power Washing

If you don’t have a power washer, then rent one or borrow it from a friend. Power wash the sides of your home, the shed, the walkway, and any outside fixtures that look dirty and unkept. You could also power wash your driveway.

Pick one of the projects listed above and plan your weekend accordingly. Then choose one of the projects for the following weekend. In a few weeks you’ll have these, and possibly others, crossed off your list and you’ll find yourself living in a brand new home. More importantly, it will be a brand new home with a higher price tag for when it’s time to put it on the market.
