Let Me Take A Selfie: Singapore Is The 10th Most Instagrammable Country

In January 2019, Singapore was ranked the 10th most Instagrammable country in the world. This ranking was published by Big 7 Travel and included an analysis of three factors. The first factor analyzed the number of hashtags that used the word “Singapore” in 2018, the second looked at a survey that asked participants to vote for their favourite destination, and the third was based on a panel of five judges scoring Instagrammable spots. According to the chair of the judging panel, Singapore scored very high for “its innovative city landscape and ingenious use of green spaces, as well as its highly Instagrammable food scene with creative cafes and dining options”.

The Best City Spots for the Best Instagram Shots

Singapore’s name was used in over 60 million hashtags in 2018 and a majority of these hashtags focused on highly populated areas with unique and modern buildings. Some of the destinations that were picked as the most Instagrammed spots in Singapore include the Cloud Forest at Gardens by the Bay, the ArtScience Museum, Chijmes, the Helix Bridge, and Koon Seng Road. A lot of these destinations provide innovative architecture, unique views, or a snapshot into city life.

The Most Instagrammed Hotel in the World

One of the most Instagrammable locations in 2018 was the Marina Bay Sands. It was also defined by the judging panel and social media analysis as the most Instagrammed hotel in the entire world. Marina Bay Sands is right on the water and therefore provides some of the best aquatic views accompanied by some amazing cityscape shots.

The infinity pool on the roof is also the world’s largest rooftop so many Instagram posts focused on the relaxing scenes overlooking the entire island. Not only does the hotel provide amazing views, but it also allows anyone and everyone to see them. The rooms are easily accessible and therefore, there are many areas across the hotel that are designated for those with mobility requirements. This ultimately allows all travellers to enjoy the destination and the hotel’s luxurious photo spots.

The Food is to Snap For

The destination is not all about the views – it’s also about the food. People love food photography because people love food and dining is basically a national pastime in Singapore. Foodies love the colourful, unique, and delicious foods that Singapore has to offer and it definitely shows throughout Instagram. One of the reasons why Singapore was bumped up so high in the list of Instagrammable countries is because the cafes, restaurants, and bars on the island have made food and drinks their speciality.

Singapore has risen through the ranks as the 10th most Instagrammable country in the world. Due to its modern views, green spaces, and delicious food, the island is definitely one to visit in 2019.
