Chinese desserts have come a long way since China dynastic history. These desserts are made of a variety of ingredients and are creatively presented in many delicious forms served during tea time or at the end of main meals.
The art of dessert making found its way to Singapore through early Chinese immigrants who came over to the young nation to look for work, better living conditions and to escape from famine, over-population and other issues from their hometown.
After years of interacting with the native Malays, some of these traditional Chinese desserts find themselves slightly modified as they get localised to Singapore multi-racial and multi-cultural society.
The 3rd generation of Singaporean like myself get to benefit from this ‘dessert evolution’ & enjoy yummy delights from different heritage.
