Traversing the globe to present the best from their country in Singapore – in conjunction with South Africa’s 20th Freedom Day on 27 April 2014 – are Guest Chefs Vivian Gary Solomon and Lloyd Mark De Stadler from Taj Cape Town, one of the city’s finest luxury hotels.

Vivian and Lloyd shared that South African cuisine is often referred to as “rainbow cuisine” as it emerged from the amalgamation of the country’s indigenous culture and its multifaceted history of immigration and colonialism. Shaped by the nation’s cultural diversity, its colourful cuisine is influenced by a wide variety of sources, including British, Dutch, French, German, Malay, Indian and Arab cuisines.
