100% Angela Zhang World Tour Singapore will be Mandopop superstar 张韶涵 Angela Zhang’s sixth stop in her world tour. Held on 18 November 2016, preparations for the concert is unfolding in full swing at the Suntec City Exhibition and Convention Centre. Despite being kept busy with the world tour and promotions for her latest album “Head Over Heels” , the Taiwanese singer continues to exude a bout of positive energy and drive. Angela Zhang, whose petite build belies a powerful voice will be belting out familiar favourites as well as new songs from the album for a heartwarming and memorable night with her Singapore fans.
Conveying Her Authentic Self Through Her Songs
Since beginning in October 2015, the “100% Angela Zhang World Tour” has made its stops in cities including Chengdu, Shanghai, Guangzhou and Taiwan. Angela will be performing for her Nanjing fans on 15 October 2015 before bringing the concert to Singapore.
At the concert, Singapore fans can expect a night of whimsical, exhilarating, heartwarming and emotion-filled musical experience. Witness the transformation of the talented singer who has been dubbed to have “the voice kissed by an angel” from her debut days, into a mature, seasoned artiste who has never given up on challenging herself and exceeding her full potential. These days, Angela is ready and excited to “show her purest inner self” to the world through her work.
Angela shared at her recent press conference, “I have never faded out from your hearts. I feel that it is superficial to measure my love for all you by how often I appear in the public eye. Instead, I choose to focus and use my works to communicate my feelings with everyone.”
The “100% Angela Zhang World Tour” Singapore stop will unfold in three segments, namely “I: The Origins”, “Self: Honest Confession” and “Transcend: Exceeding Limits”. Through dazzling concert costumes and nearly over 40 newly-arranged music tracks in the rundown, Angela will enthrall fans into a night of unforgettable musical journey.
Of note, to express her sincerity and love for her fans in the different cities, Angela has put in special thoughts and will don a brand new outfit for the last part of each concert. The change to the final outfit is also in sync with the theme of the concert, “100% Angela Zhang” where Angela will present her “truest” and most authentic self to her fans.
“My Music Is Always Honest”
After a two and a half year hiatus, Angela has finally launched her highly-anticipated 9th mandarin album, “Head Over Heels”, on 21 July 2016. The album is a fine specimen of a wonderful display of combining art and pop culture – talented illustrators and copywriters were invited to work on 10 different illustrated stories for the 10 brand new songs on the album.
On the concept of this album, which coincided with the theme of the world tour, Angela explained, “I want to maintain the purest and most original intention from my heart that is free of any complication or impurities of the mind and soul, and I want to be able to communicate feely and present my very true, honest self in whatever I do.”
As with her previous album, Angela has once again assumed the role of music director for “Head Over Heels” where she is responsible for the overall concept and production of the album. Beyond that, Angela has also taken on a new challenge this time by directing the music video for the album’s first single, “Before Goodbye”. At the shoot, Angela has the arduous task of switching between immersing herself in character for the music video while still maintaining an artistic eye from a director’s perspective. That is no mean feat for anyone.
“I am very excited to have my try as a director. Previously, as a singer, I only need to focus on my singing and my performance in the music video. Directing is something totally new to me and there are so many other aspects I need to think about. There is such an adrenalin rush during the shoot as I cannot wait to see how the music video turns out after adding in all the 3D effects!”
The musical risks Angela takes in her new album and the new challenge of directing her own music video are exemplary of Angela’s drive and passion for her craft. Angela is always on the quest to learn and enrich herself, to discover her untapped potential and to outdo herself to her best abilities in everything she does.
