The first half year of 2016 has seen Singapore’s culinary scene going through a mini-revolution with food conservatives protesting against some of the food stunts pulled by innovative new players trying to carve a niche out for themselves. In the end, its up to you the consumer who decides yay or nay for these food trends and determine how long they stay as the flavour of the month. Here we are with the 12 Singapore Food Trends captured by Instagrammers who have braved the frontline for us. 1. Bagels Are The Latest Shit That’s Coming Out From Unicorns

Made famous by New York City’s The Bagel Store, WORD Singapore (Halal Cafe) recently launched these gorgeous pastries with vivid Crayola colour and cream cheese filling in May 2016.

2. Seafood Are Now Served In Towers

Captain K Seafood Tower, a new Korean Seafood concept is stacking its hopes high on their fresh seafood towers that will surely delight seafood lovers in Singapore. Looks like our traditional seafood restaurants will be taking a backseat for a while.

3. The Whole Freaking Lobster Now Comes With The Roll

Everyone loves Lobster Rolls but they are usually not served with the entire crustacean, shell and all! Well, we are not complaining. See them roll with claws and all at Benjamin Browns Bistro & Bakery!

11. You Can Now Eat Breast Implants!

They look like a large drop of water or even worse breast implants but it’s actually a cake. This Japanese invention is as delicate as it looks and sounds, but it needs to be consumed in only 30 minutes, after which it will simply turn into a sweet puddle of water.

 

12. Hot Pans Coming In!

Pancakes are literally delivered to our tables in hot pans! This dutch baby pancake sometimes called a German pancake, is a sweet popover that is normally served for breakfast. But we take it anytime in Singapore.
